No Rest for the Wicked: Day Wave to Headline the Independent Tonight

After a long weekend of debauchery (or relaxation, whatever floats your boat), it’s time to get back in the saddle. And if there’s one band that should get you out on a Monday night, it’s Day Wave.

Fresh off a (sold out) 7 show run in Australia, Day Wave is back in the Bay Area, ready to kick off a full-fledged World tour. The band will be headlining the Independent tonight (Monday, April 25th) to what I’m assuming will be a sold out house (tickets are going fast. If they’re not sold out already grab them here).

If you’ve never heard of Day Wave, or frontman Jackson Phillips, stop what you’re doing and listen to this. And go read this. And maybe this. What about this??? (Hint: we love Day Wave).

Day Wave has been picking up some serious steam and shows no signs of slowing down. After already crushing six shows at this year’s SXSW, The Independent show marks the beginning of an intense 30-some-odd show tour in basically two months. If your city is a stop along the way, I can’t stress enough how much you need to go check this band out (see full tour schedule below).

This is Day Wave’s first headlining tour in the U.S., which includes some awesome festival gigs like Shaky Knees in Atlanta, Great Escape festival in the U.K., Governors Ball in NYC and Lollapalooza in Chicago. And if this tour lineup isn’t enough to impress you, the band just launched their latest video for “Stuck”, featuring Mark Hoppus acting like Mark Hoppus (a nice parody of this awesome Star Wars preview video, which I’m sure you’ve all seen).

Check the full tour schedule before, and stop by the Independent tonight to catch a band that is on the cusp of full on indie stardom. After this tour, and with the way things are headed, Day Wave shows will be one of the hardest tickets to come by in SF.
