SFCritic’s Concert Calendar and October Shows to See

10/01/2014

We are always on the lookout for fun shows here in SF and around the Bay. Over the past few days, we have been gathering details on some of our favorite acts coming to town, and we decided the natural culmination of this effort is our new Upcoming Concert Calendar.

Check out great Bay Area shows in October and November here.

We will be updating our listing as more great shows come across our radar. Each Wednesday, we will highlight a couple of upcoming acts to help you find great acts in your backyard.

Monday October 5th @ the Warfield:

This week we’d like to highlight one of our favorite rock acts out of the UK: Bombay Bicycle Club. Our writer Paul saw them this spring and was blown away by the incredible music they are making, especially because they are all under 25. The band is playing Sunday October 5th at The Warfield you can find tickets here.

Tuesday October 7th:

Earlier in the week we wrote about two shows coming Tuesday October 7th; Lake Street Dive and Ages and Ages as well as our ongoing 2 ticket giveaway for Yasiin Bey (FKA Mos Def).

Wednesday October 8th @ Rickshaw Stop:

Athens, Georgia-based rockers The Whigs have been creating solid foot stomping rock for over a decade now and are a must see. But get there early as well because Portland-based trio Greylag is touring on their about to be released self-titled debut album. Coming on October 14th the Greylag album has some solid tracks, check out “Another” below and get your tickets here.

Thursday October 9th @ the Fillmore:

Next up is Irish standout, Imelda May, who will be at The Fillmore Thursday October 9th. I have been a casual fan of Imelda May for a few years, but was really impressed with her performance at Outside Lands this year. She was given a super long set because of the cancelation of CHVRCHES and really took the opportunity to get the crowd moving with her Rockabilly style and soulful sound. Get your tickets here.
