Electronic musician Tom Holkenborg (or Junkie XL) has created thrilling trance soundtracks for various movies and computer games. XL stands for “Xpanding Limits”, and he uses the name “JXL” to assuage those who might be offended by the the brash term, junkie.
Many are already familiar with his energetic remix of Elvis Presley’s original “A Little Less Conversation,” but his new song “Gloria” is a dance-friendly collaboration with the fellow Norwegian new rave indie band, Datarock. Through the use of keyboards, guitar and drums, the big beat track clearly recalls the famous 60’s classic rock anthem by Van Morrison. The track being used as the theme for a new web comedy titled, STD: Oddfjord, about a New York police officer that transfers to–where else but Norway. The accompanying video entertainingly features a cameo from JUNKIE XL as a high-school teacher.
Junkie XL is expected to release his album SYNTHESIZED, on November 27 via Nettwerk Record. It will be his first release in four years and the sixth LP in his 15-year career.
