It’s around that time of year that “smug air” wafts towards the Bay Area for Outside Lands Summer Pairing Series. Featuring three wonderful vices, wine, food, and music, the pairing series starts this weekend and continues each weekend up until the festival’s date. Here’s some more info:
Wine and Street Food in Sonoma with Medlock Ames & Le Truc (July 22nd @ 5:30-8:30pm) Tickets are $30
Gather at Medlock Ames’ charming Alexander Valley Bar where Le Truc will serve a scrumptious meal with wine pairings that goes a little like this: Medlock Ames’ 2009 Sauvignon Blanc paired with Le Truc’s mini crab cakes with herbed aioli, 2010 Chardonnay with salmon tartare with capers and lemon zest served on Belgian endive, and 2008 Bell Mountain Red (Cabernet/Merlot) with duck confit quesadillas with roasted shallot vinaigrette. Oh, and did we mention the final treat a serenade by San Francisco’s The Easy Leaves.

Block Party with Wine Pairings & The American Grilled Cheese Kitchen (Sunday July 29; 4-7pm) Tickets are $30
Who doesn’t like a grilled cheese sandwich? (Okay, if you’re lactose this might not be your event.) This day the Vine Street located in Berkeley’s Gourmet Ghetto is your playpen. Snack on a grilled cheese sandwich with smoked apple-wood bacon (yes please!) or go veggie, and add seasoned roasted tomatoes (I’ll have both), while washing it down with a glass (or two) of riesling, chenin blanc, or rosé.
Long Meadow Ranch with Sean Hayes (Sunday August 5, 2012, 3pm) Tickets are $30-40
Sean Hayes is a fixture of San Francisco’s music scene, so it’s fitting that he concludes this series before his long overdue performance at Outside Lands. Make sure to read our interview with Sean Hayes to get a taste of his free-spirited romanticism. He has performed with Aimee Mann and Frazey Ford and toured alongside Jolie Holland, Ani DiFranco and the Cold War Kids. The concert will include one Long Meadow Ranch wine tasting. Lawn chairs and blankets are encouraged.
