Memory House at Rickshaw Shop [Photo Review]

Sub-Pop’s Memory House brought their distinct sound of dream pop to San Francisco last Tuesday night, sharing the stage with the Sacramento-based Sister Crayon. The show drew an enormous crowd, and was well received by everyone in attendance.

Most often compared to the indie-sensation, Beach House, the duo proved to the city with creativity and spirit that they deserve every bit of their recent high critical acclaim. While still playing hits from their debut releases The Years, and The Years EP,  the group mixed in a heavy dose of their newest album, The Slideshow Effect. The crowd was engaged by their fuzzy synths and grasping guitar licks, which were layered perfectly over Denise Nouvion’s entrancing vocals.

On March 23rd, they’ll head out overseas to play a show at the School of Art in Glasgow. Following that there will be a six week tour throughout the United Kingdom, before heading back to their home country of Canada, to perform in Toronto. The Slideshow Effect was released on February 27th, and is available everywhere. You can purchase the record, or even listen for free on the band’s Soundcloud page. Check it out.
