So right now i’m feeling very throwback. I guess doing legitimate work makes me think of the good old days of my infant life and even the times before it.
This to me is one of the most classic and best 1990s hip-hop songs. LL Cool J was in the prime of his music career, his abs were made of steel, he had some ridiculous videos and even more ridiculous followers and fans. Not to mention this was before Def Jam and Suge Knight had to deal with all their problems.
West side Vs. East side was becoming a very real happening and almost as importantly, I was about to be born when this track came out. My parents, who were so against hip-hop in its early days must have taken a liking to “Mama Said Knock You Out” because when I was feeling energetic, I would run around (sometimes hopping) looking like a kangaroo about to get in a boxing match. I also love just belting out Gangsta Boogie, Gangsta Boogie then pretending to shadow box… No, I have not seen a therapist for these nuances, I can only hope its a normal thing to do.
Is it bad that i also can’t watch NCIS Blue without chanting this in my head the entire time?
