“It’s the remix BITCH!” Hard to imagine “spicin'” up Bon Iver. Then again, who would have thought a folk singer from Wisconsin would collaborate with Kanye West? This remix of Bon Iver’s “Skinny Love” by Das Kapital is a perfect balance. It would be easy to over weigh Bon Iver’s acoustic and minimalist sound with synth production and 808s, but this “rerub” (really? when did you rub it the first time?) eases the listener into a more head bobbing beat around 28 seconds, before changing completely at 44 seconds. Those of you that say Bon Iver’s sound is so mood particular, well you can’t hate on this. Nice job Das Kapital.

Last week we featured The White Panda, a mashup duo that has been getting heavy rotation on blogs. One of our readers lambasted our hyping of the group, stating The Hood Internet do better work. We listened to his demur and grabbed The Hood Internet’s mashup of Matt & Kim’s “Good Ol Fashion Nightmare” with the Beastie Boy’s track “Shake Your Rump.” I must admit, I prefer this mashup to The White Panda mashup of Matt & Kim (but their mashup of Starfucker and Dre is still my favorite).
