[New Releases] Nicki Minaj and Oh Land

It doesn’t take a genius to know that Oh Land is a budding star. Since the release of self-titled EP (Oct 19th) in the States and her CMJ showcases, she has become a tornado engulfing the media’s attention like recent sensation, La Roux. The Danish electro-pop singer, like La Roux, is the daughter of a musical family. “My goal is to sound like I’m from 2050, but still feel really classic, like the music is an old friend,” says Oh Land, on her Myspace Profile. Whether there’s any merit to such juxtapositions is for you to decide. Below is the video to her recent single, “Sun Of A Gun.”

Who’s the baddest bitch? Nicki Minaj is fighting the competition since joining Lil Wayne’s Young Money. Lil’ herself, she’s got twice the presence on the mic–something that any female emcee struggles with to be heard by a mostly male audience. Kudos should be given to Minaj for walking the tight rope of sex appeal with her “Barbie” image, while maintaining bravado with tracks like “Massive Attack.” Her new album, Pink Friday was released today (Nov. 19th).

Since everyone is digging up tracks from her new release, we’re sharing this Gucci Mane track where she’s featured.
