[Preview Concert List] Dawes & Zion I

Zion I Atomic Clock

Since Mind Over Matter I have been an avid supporter of Zumbi and Amp Live, aka, Zion I. Though the duo have always had a loyal fan base, they’ve never quite broken out into the next big thing. Even so, they’ve never ventured from their drum and bass, electronic, trip-hop sound blend of hip hop–which makes me only love them more. Oh did I add, they’re a Bay Area staple? In support of their latest release (Nov. 9th), Atomic Clock, they will be performing this Saturday at Slim’s. Below is a track Zion I did with Rebelution (who we interviewed here) titled “Many Stylez,” off of the new album.

The indie folk group, Dawes will be performing at The Independent on Saturday. Their stripped down sound is a clean American or folk. For those that stray away from heavy bass pounding, Dawes’ are mellow with simplistic sonic intricacies that won’t bore listeners. They’re touring their most recent album, North Hills, which received high praises across the board. Here’s a track from their Daytrotter Session, giving you a little taste of what’s in store.
