Bradford Cox returns to Deerhunter, after his solo-work as Atlas Sound, to create what I’m told is another gem with Haylcon Digest (released September 28th). Cox stated about the album title:
“The album’s title is a reference to a collection of fond memories and even invented ones, like my friendship with Ricky Wilson or the fact that I live in an abandoned Victorian autoharp factory. The way that we write and rewrite and edit our memories to be a digest version of what we want to remember, and how that’s kind of sad.”
“Helicopter” is the first single from the album. The track bubbles lightly, but has a dark undertone that literally seems to percolate, all of which seems to reinforce the album title’s meaning. Here is the remix by Diplo & Lunice, and the original track. Are you fans of Deerhunter–what are your thoughts?
